The group has been working in developing electrochemical energy storage devices including batteries and supercapacitors. The group has pioneering work in several areas of battery research such as flexible batteries and supercapacitors, high temperature Li/Na-ion batteries using stable electrolytes such as ionic liquids, and battery recycling using green methods. The team is working on the development of beyond Li-ion chemistries, particularly in the development of hard carbons for anodes. Other areas of interest include insitu battery characterization, solid state batteries and battery-supercapacitor hybrids.
